Gauguin in Tahiti and in the Marquesas Islands

The paintings that Paul Gauguin (1848-1903) created in Tahiti and the Marquesas Islands are full of poetry and mystery. They have made these Polynesian islands known throughout the world. It is therefore surprising, that any investigation has never been conducted by art historians and critics and that none of his many biographers have ever bothered to visit these islands.
