The dictionary was published in 1908. It is more than 100 years old now - what gives us the opportunity to make it available again to Polynesian language enthusiasts. "The language of the Gambiers has many analogies and is one [...] with that of New Zealand, Easter Island, [...] the Cook Islands, the Marquesas, the Sandwich Islands and the old language of the Tuamotus. The ancient language of Tahiti is similar". Michel Charleux added the Mangarevian words collected as early as 1834 by the Picpucian fathers Caret, Laval and Liausu.
